Washington organization reacts to US aid package for Ukraine

Ukraine Defense Support was founded in 2022 after a US combat veteran voluntarily joined Ukrainians in their fight against Russia

SEATTLE — Fresh off a trip to Washington, D.C., to push for the now-passed congressional bill to support Ukraine, Carl Larson celebrated in his Mountlake Terrace home. 

“I like to think that our efforts played a small part in the enormous victory,” Larson said. “The Ukrainian military is just not very well equipped. I saw Ukrainian soldiers in the snow wearing tennis shoes.”

In 2022, Larson, a U.S. Army combat veteran, went to Ukraine to join the International Legion of Ukraine. He spent six months
