Seattle International Film Festival Unveils Its 2015 Lineup

It’s time to get back in front of the screen and perfect your popcorn-to-mouth delivery motion: The 2015 Seattle International Film Festival is mere weeks away. Being the biggest film festival in the United States, it always takes a while to fully digest SIFF’s lineup announcement.

As previously revealed, Paul Feig’s Melissa McCarthy–led action comedy Spy[1] opens the festivities on May 14. Joining it in the gala ranks are End of Days (Centerpiece Gala), in which a reporter (Jesse Eisenberg) spends five days interviewing David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel), and the Jason Schwartzman and Adam Scott adult sex comedy The Overnight (Closing Night Gala on June 7). Schwartzman will be in Seattle to support The Overnight and another starring role in 7 Chinese Brothers.

SIFF honors Kevin Bacon with its Career Achievement in Acting Award in conjunction with a screening of his new film Cop Car. To get the full SIFF degrees of separation (I’m sooooo sorry), the fest will also show Footloose and Diner. Other highlights of SIFF 2015 include early screenings of Mr. Holmes (Ian McKellen playing an elderly Sherlock Holmes) and the new Pixar film Inside Out, the new Culinary Cinema program with 11 films about food, Jemaine Clement (of Flight of the Conchords) attending a screening of his latest movie People, Places, Things, and 49 world premieres (23 features, 26 shorts). There are too many movies to list (450 total), but the full SIFF lineup should be viewable on siff.net[2] tonight at midnight.

Festival passes and ticket packages for SIFF 2015 are already on sale at siff.net[3] and cost $50–$3,000. Single tickets go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, April 30, for $12–$50.
