Could uplifting comedy prove a new international force from Latin America? The selectors of this year’s Content America’s Copro Pitch six finalists certainly think so.
Three projects – “Dr. Sex,” “José Piedra, a Guy With Bad Luck” and “Sexorcism”– weigh in as feel-good, second chance comedies/dramedies. Another, “Pioneers,” delivers a humor-laced real-life inspired chronicle.

The other two, almost inevitably, are crime dramas-thrillers. Many titles genre bend. “Sexorcismo” “flips the traditional single-mother narrative on its head, asking a simple but radical question: What happens when it’s the man whose life is upended by unexpected parenthood?” says producer Marlon Quintero.
