Winter Storm Warning Upgraded for 10 Counties in Wyoming and Montana as Conditions Intensify

A powerful spring storm system is rapidly strengthening across parts of Wyoming and Montana, prompting the National Weather Service (NWS) to upgrade and extend winter storm warnings across multiple mountainous regions.

Forecasters warn that heavy snowfall, strong winds, and dangerous travel conditions will persist through Friday.

Heavy Snowfall and Strong Winds Expected

The NWS office in Riverton, Wyoming, reports that snow accumulations between 9 and 18 inches are expected across the Wind River Mountains, with 5 to 7 inches forecast near South Pass. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph, significantly reducing visibility and increasing the risk of hazardous travel.
