Blizzard warnings have been issued across parts of North Dakota and Minnesota as powerful winds and blowing snow threaten to create dangerous whiteout conditions through early Friday morning. Officials say travel may become nearly impossible in several counties as gusts approach 60 mph.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Forks upgraded earlier winter weather advisories to full blizzard warnings Thursday morning as conditions deteriorated across the northern Red River Valley.
Blizzard Warning Expanded Across Seven Counties
The warning now covers seven counties across northwest Minnesota and northeast North Dakota, including Kittson, West Polk, West Marshall, Cavalier, Eastern Walsh, Grand Forks, and Western Walsh.
