A Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m. PDT Thursday for the San Francisco Bay Area and the Monterey Bay area.
Up to 2.1 feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways.
NWS San Francisco issued the update at 11:04 a.m. PDT Monday.
The most substantial flooding is expected across low-lying bayshore areas of Marin County.
Where the Advisory Applies
Bay shoreline: San Pablo Bay, San Francisco Bay and Monterey Bay.
Zones: San Francisco, the North Bay Interior Valleys, the San Francisco Bay Shoreline, Northern Monterey Bay, and Southern Monterey Bay and the Big Sur Coast.
Pacific Coast: the Coastal North Bay, including Point Reyes National Seashore, and the San Francisco Peninsula Coast, from 9 a.m. Monday to 3 p.m. Thursday.
High Tide Forecast
At the San Francisco tidal gauge, forecasters expect high tides well above normal each day.
Monday, Oct. 26: 2.0 feet above normal (7.8 feet MLLW) at 11:39 a.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 27: 2.1 feet above normal (7.9 feet MLLW) at 12:15 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 28: 1.9 feet above normal (7.7 feet MLLW) at 12:56 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 29: 1.7 feet above normal (7.5 feet MLLW) at 1:43 p.m.
The predictions include up to 1 foot of surge that will enhance the astronomical tide and flooding threat.
High tide varies up to 90 minutes earlier or later along the Pacific Coast and through San Francisco Bay.
What to Expect
High tides will flood low-lying infrastructure and cause isolated road closures and coastal erosion.
Rising tides will bring water and waves farther up the beach than normal, restricting escape from beaches and coastal areas.
More substantial impacts are expected along the Marin County bayshore, where flooding is anticipated across low-lying areas.
Weather This Week
NWS Bay Area says a weak front brings cooler weather, with light rain chances late in the week.
How to Stay Safe
If you must travel, allow extra time, because some roads may be closed.
Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth.
Protect flood-prone property before the midday high tides.
