A bitter Arctic air mass pushing deep into the southern United States is setting the stage for an unusual winter scenario: the possibility of snow stretching from the Florida Panhandle through parts of Georgia and into the Carolinas.
The system, which entered the region on Jan. 15, is expected to interact with a developing coastal storm over the weekend, bringing light snow chances and widespread freezing temperatures to areas unaccustomed to winter weather.
According to AccuWeather, a coastal low-pressure system could deliver snow to portions of the Southeast on Sunday before tracking northward along the Mid-Atlantic and New England coastline.
