Katie Wilson to be inaugurated Friday as Seattle mayor, becoming third woman to lead city

Wilson beat incumbent Bruce Harrell in a highly-contested race in November, earning 50.4% of the vote.

SEATTLE — Mayor-elect Katie Wilson is set to become the third woman to lead the Pacific Northwest’s largest city in the New Year. 

On Friday, Jan. 2, her inauguration will take place at 10 a.m. You can watch the ceremony for free on the KING 5 streaming app on your phone or TV.

Wilson’s win continues Seattle’s unbroken chain of one-term mayors, which started with Mike McGinn back in 2010. It also reflects a broader trend of more progressive politicians being voted into office within the city.
