Pierce County deputies didn’t follow body cam policy at crash scene involving major, investigation finds

Pierce County investigators found a deputy didn’t follow department policy on body worn cameras while responding to a DUI crash involving a major in July.

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — An internal investigation released Thursday found several instances where Pierce County deputies didn’t adhere to department policy while responding to an injury crash involving a major.

Major Chad Dickerson, who was off-duty at the time of the incident, was charged with two counts of vehicular assault with a DUI enhancement in connection to the July 12 crash.

The investigation found several areas of noncompliance with use of body cameras, documentation, supervisory oversight and evidence handling.
