A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for 19 counties across southwest Virginia and large portions of southern and central West Virginia, with forecasters warning of mixed precipitation and hazardous travel conditions beginning early Monday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory stretches from 4 a.m. Monday in parts of the middle Ohio Valley to as late as 10 a.m.
Tuesday in the mountainous areas of southeast West Virginia. Snow, sleet, and light ice accumulations are expected to create slippery roadways, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and higher elevations.
