A widespread winter weather system is impacting large areas of the Northern Plains, with advisories issued by the National Weather Service across North and South Dakota, as well as parts of Minnesota.
Snow, Ice, and Strong Winds Expected
Forecasters warn of accumulating snow between 3 and 7 inches in some areas, combined with wind gusts up to 35 mph. In parts of South Dakota and western Minnesota, mixed precipitation—including sleet and freezing rain—could create icy surfaces and dangerous travel conditions.
The system is expected to last through Thursday evening in many regions, with some advisories beginning Wednesday night in North Dakota.
