NWS Sacramento says a system will bring mountain snow showers to the Sierra Nevada this weekend, with the best chances south of Interstate 80.
Its storm-total snow map for Saturday 11 AM to Sunday 10 AM shows 3 to 4 inches at Carson Pass and Ebbetts Pass.
Where the Snow Is Forecast
Less than 1 inch is forecast for Echo Summit, Cisco, Donner Peak and Alpine Meadows.
NWS Sacramento puts the chance of more than 1 inch of snowfall at about 60 to 80 percent in the Sierra south of I-80 for Saturday and Sunday.
The chance of more than a tenth of an inch of rain is around 80 percent in the same area.

Cooler Weekend Across the Region
NWS Reno expects snow levels around 5,000 to 6,000 feet, possibly lower at times, especially Saturday night.
Highs should reach the 40s in the Sierra, with lows in the teens and 20s. Valleys should see highs in the 50s and lows in the 20s and 30s.
Thunderstorms are possible Saturday, with a chance of about 10 to 15 percent and the best odds in the mountains south of I-80.
What to Expect
Models still disagree on rain and snow amounts, so the forecast may change before the weekend.
NWS Sacramento noted that the highest chances are in Tuolumne, Calaveras, Amador, Alpine and El Dorado Counties, with the main focus on Sunday. That is from its Tuesday forecast discussion.
If you plan to cross the Sierra, check conditions on Caltrans QuickMap before you go.
