U.S. Issues An Urgent Travel Warning for Colombia Over Armed Strike

The U.S. Embassy in Bogotá has issued an urgent security alert following the announcement of a nationwide “armed strike” by the National Liberation Army (ELN), cautioning U.S. citizens to avoid non-essential travel across multiple regions of Colombia from December 14–17.

The alert, published December 13, 2025, warns that the illegal armed group Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN), designated by the United States as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, has threatened the movement of civilians and security forces.

The strike is scheduled to begin Sunday, December 14 at 6:00 AM and conclude Wednesday, December 17 at 6:00 AM.
