The U.S. Embassy in Qatar has issued a renewed security alert instructing American citizens in Qatar to shelter in place as regional tensions escalate following U.S. military strikes against Iran.
The advisory comes amid heightened concerns that Tehran or its affiliated proxy groups could retaliate against U.S. interests in the Gulf.
In a statement dated March 1, the embassy confirmed it “continues to maintain a shelter-in-place for all personnel” and “recommends all Americans do the same until further notice.” The alert explicitly warns that “the Iranian government and its proxies may seek to target Americans in retaliation for U.S. strikes against Iran.”
