A tornado watch has been issued for multiple counties across Illinois and Missouri, as severe weather conditions threaten the region through Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Meteorologists warn that strong thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail may develop as a powerful storm system moves across the Midwest.
The advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. CDT for several counties in Illinois and Missouri, while a separate watch in neighboring Arkansas and Oklahoma continues until 9 p.m. CDT.
