Tornado Warning Issued Along Florida–Georgia Border as Powerful Storm Moves Northeast

A tornado warning was issued Monday morning for parts of Florida and Georgia as a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado moved across the region, prompting urgent safety alerts from the National Weather Service (NWS).

Officials warned residents to take immediate shelter as the storm tracked through rural communities near the Florida–Georgia border.

The warning, issued by the National Weather Service office in Tallahassee, covered portions of northeastern Jefferson County and northeastern Madison County in Florida, as well as southwestern Lowndes County and southeastern Brooks County in Georgia. The alert remained in effect until 10:15 a.m. EDT as meteorologists closely monitored the storm system.
