A short-lived Tornado Warning was issued Wednesday morning for parts of east-central Los Angeles County as an intense storm cell moved through the San Gabriel Valley during the first wave of a dangerous atmospheric river event.
The warning covered communities including Alhambra, Pasadena, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, El Monte, and Temple City, before being canceled later in the morning as the immediate tornado threat diminished.
Meteorologists emphasized that the cancellation did not signal an end to hazardous conditions. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remained in effect in the area, with damaging wind gusts near 60 mph still possible as the system pushed northeast.
