A powerful late-season winter storm is set to impact large parts of California’s mountainous regions, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing urgent warnings for 16 counties across the Sierra Nevada.
Heavy snowfall, strong winds, and hazardous travel conditions are expected to intensify through midweek, raising concerns for residents, travelers, and emergency services.

According to the NWS, snowfall totals could reach between 12 and 18 inches in many high-elevation areas, with up to 2 feet possible at the highest peaks. Lower elevations around 4,500 feet may still see light accumulation, adding to already difficult conditions.
