The National Weather Service (NWS) in Chicago has issued a series of winter weather alerts affecting five counties across northeastern Illinois and northwestern Indiana as a potentially hazardous snowstorm system approaches the region.
At 8:48 PM CST Thursday, the NWS announced both a Winter Weather Advisory and a Winter Storm Warning, targeting key counties including Cook, Lake (IL), DuPage, Lake (IN), and Porter. Residents in these areas are advised to prepare for dangerous driving conditions, limited visibility, and accumulating snowfall beginning Friday morning and continuing into Saturday.
