More than 9,000 flights were delayed across the United States this weekend as the government shutdown entered its fifth week, triggering widespread disruption at major airports.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned the crisis could deepen as unpaid air traffic controllers and security agents strain the system. “You will see delays. We will have flights canceled to make sure the system is safe,” he told ABC News, adding, “If the government doesn’t open in the next week or two, we’ll look back as these were the good days, not the bad days.”
