The Cornucopia food and wine festival, now 11 days in mid-November, has a “choose your own cocktail adventure” wherein attendees pick a single spirit or beer, then mix it multiple ways.  [1]

The first-annual Orcas Island Film Festival[2],[3] held October 10–13, features avant-garde and progressive flicks; one is about a tree branch that drifts among the San Juan islands.  

New hotel the Palladian opens in a 1910 Belltown building in November, featuring Space Needle views and pillows printed with the faces of celebrities like David Bowie. 

Pomp and Circumstance at the Washington State History Museum celebrates the clothes we wear for milestone events, including governor Christine Gregoire’s inaugural ball gown and a hand-woven cedar graduation cap.  [4]

Oregon’s food-truck tradition finally meets Willamette Valley’s wine industry at Union Wine Company’s new wine truck[5], a 1972 Citroën van parked near Pok Pok that does walkup pinot tastings.  

Two new hotels opening in fall invite travelers to put down roots: Richland’s riverfront Homewood Suites is an all-suites hotel, and Pasco’s My Place Hotel, just steps from the TRAC Center, has in-room kitchens. [6][7]

Billed as the first of its kind, the new Teton Geotourism Center[8] offers itinerary planning around the wild Idaho-Wyoming border with an emphasis on travel that enhances, rather than damages, the destination.
