No ETA, No Entry: UK Tightens Border Rules for 85 from February 2026

The UK government has announced that, beginning 25 February 2026, visitors from 85 visa-free countries — including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and EU nations such as France — will no longer be able to enter the United Kingdom without obtaining an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) in advance.

The decision marks a major milestone in the UK’s transition toward a fully digital border, which officials say will lay the groundwork for seamless, contactless entry in the coming years.
