A rapidly developing winter weather event has prompted urgent warnings across northern Minnesota, where dangerous snow squalls are creating near-zero visibility and hazardous travel conditions. Authorities are urging residents and motorists to exercise extreme caution as conditions deteriorate within minutes.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth issued a Snow Squall Warning early Wednesday morning, affecting Cass, Itasca, Koochiching, and northwestern St. Louis counties.
Hazardous Conditions Develop Rapidly
According to the NWS bulletin released at 10:25 a.m. CDT, an intense snow squall was observed moving eastward at approximately 25 mph, stretching from near Ash Lake through Scenic State Park and toward Remer.
