Indiana Authorities Issue Travel Advisory for Boone County Over Hazardous Ice-Covered Roads

Boone County officials have issued a Yellow Travel Advisory after freezing drizzle coated area roadways with ice early Thursday, leading to multiple crashes and interstate closures across central Indiana. Temperatures remained below freezing through the morning commute, creating black ice and slick spots that caught many drivers off guard.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office reported that first responders were handling “several crashes” as patchy freezing drizzle moved through the region, particularly in and around Lebanon. “Slick spots and black ice have been reported throughout the county,” the office said in an alert, adding that bridges, shaded areas and less-traveled roads are especially dangerous.
