Heavy Snowstorm Warning Upgraded for Chicago, IL as Forecast Worsens

A rapidly intensifying winter storm prompted the National Weather Service (NWS) to upgrade a Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Storm Warning for Chicago and much of Cook County, citing worsening snowfall rates and hazardous travel conditions across northeastern Illinois on Sunday.

According to the NWS Chicago office, the warning remains in effect until 4:00 p.m. CST, with heavy snow falling at times, particularly near Lake Michigan.
