A significant winter storm is poised to impact much of Pennsylvania beginning early Sunday, prompting the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue Winter Storm Warnings for 27 counties statewide.
Forecasters warn that heavy snowfall, powerful wind gusts, and near-whiteout conditions could create dangerous travel situations through Monday evening and into early Tuesday in some areas.
Widespread Snowfall Across Central Pennsylvania
In central Pennsylvania, including Cambria and Somerset counties, the warning takes effect at 1 a.m. Sunday and continues through 1 a.m. Tuesday. The NWS is forecasting 6 to 10 inches of snow, with locally higher totals along ridge tops due to enhanced upslope flow.
