Heavy Lake-Effect Snowstorm Warning Issued for the Chicago Area

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued urgent winter weather warnings for portions of the Chicago metropolitan area and northwest Indiana, as a significant lake-effect snowstorm is expected to impact the region from Friday afternoon through Saturday.

Forecasters warn that heavy snowfall, near whiteout conditions, and dangerous travel are likely in the most affected areas.

According to the NWS Chicago office, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Lake and Porter Counties in Indiana from 3:00 p.m. Friday until 6:00 p.m. CST Saturday.
