Extreme Cold Warning with Wind Chills Issued for West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia

Much of the Appalachian region remains under Extreme Cold Warnings as the National Weather Service (NWS) reports dangerously low wind chills across West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia.

These conditions are forecast to persist through early Tuesday afternoon, raising significant health and safety concerns for residents.

The NWS has confirmed that wind chills across affected areas could plunge as low as 25 degrees below zero, a level that poses a serious risk of frostbite within just 30 minutes of skin exposure.

The warnings apply specifically to high-elevation areas, including Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, Southeast Randolph, Western Garrett, Western Grant, and Eastern Tucker counties, among others.
