Extreme Cold Warning Issued Florida over Intense Arctic Cold Outbreak

An unusually intense Arctic cold outbreak has prompted the issuance of Extreme Cold Warnings across much of Florida, with conditions more typical of the Deep South or Midwest than the Sunshine State.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), dangerously low temperatures and wind chills will impact large portions of northern, central, and even southern Florida from Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon.

Meteorologists warn that hard freeze conditions, combined with strong winds, will push wind chills into the single digits above zero in several regions. In northern Florida, including areas around Jacksonville, Gainesville, and Tallahassee, overnight low temperatures are expected to fall as low as 18 to 21 degrees
