Colorado’s Front Range is preparing for a high-impact downslope wind event expected to intensify on Wednesday afternoon and continue into Wednesday night, with the National Weather Service warning of widespread gusts in the 60–85 mph range, strongest near the base of the foothills and extending into the I-25 corridor.
In a Tuesday morning briefing, the NWS Denver/Boulder office emphasized growing confidence in 75–85 mph gusts in the mountains and higher foothills, with a prime window of concern for the urban corridor during the afternoon surge.
