Blizzard Winter Alerts Issued for 11 Counties Across Texas and New Mexico

National Weather Service (NWS) offices in Midland/Odessa, Albuquerque, and El Paso issued a slate of winter weather products early Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, spanning 11 counties in Texas and New Mexico (not 15).

The most serious hazard is concentrated in and around the Guadalupe Mountains, where near-whiteout conditions are expected to develop quickly, while lighter—yet still disruptive—snow and pockets of ice extend into nearby lowlands.
