For the last five years there has been a third Wild Card team in both the N.L. and the A.L. playoffs. The point of the expansion was to increase drama down the stretch and give more teams a chance at a postseason run. But this year it’s possible, if not likely, that there will be a team at or below .500 that makes the postseason. There is also a fear that some teams are playing just to back door into a playoff bid. So with a few years of evidence, is the third Wild Card position good for MLB?
