Facing elimination Monday in Omaha, Arkansas needed a big performance from starting pitcher Gage Wood against Murray State if the Razorbacks were going to keep their title dreams alive.
Arkansas got that and a whole lot more from the righty.
Wood threw just the third no-hitter in Men’s College World Series history, and the first since 1960, as he and the Razorbacks blanked the Racers by a final score of 3-0. Beyond going the distance without allowing a hit, Wood took a perfect game into the eighth inning and only lost that bid at perfection when a 2-2 breaking ball hit Racers batter Dom Decker in his back foot
