EDMONDS, Wash. — Approximately 400 ballet dancers from several states are performing this week at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, competing before judges from elite dance schools and companies for scholarships that could transform their careers.

The regional competition, organized by Youth America Grand Prix, has been described by co-founder Gennadi Saveliev as “the biggest one in our history” and a “cross between Oscars and Olympics for the ballet kids.”
