Yelm superintendent Chris Woods said relying on local levies is resulting in cuts for their district.
YELM, Wash. — Public schools will receive an additional $1.5 billion from the four-year budget passed by legislators in Olympia.
But Yelm superintendent Chris Woods said the money won’t do much to solve his district’s funding problems.
“A little disappointing,” said Woods, “Seems like our efforts just fell short, and people weren’t necessarily willing to hear what educators had to say across the state.”
He said the state has made districts too reliant on levies, and recently-passed legislation only makes that problem worse.
