WSP trooper killed in ‘serious incident’ on I-5 north of Marysville

MARYSVILLE, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol is investigating after a trooper was killed by a motorist on Interstate 5 near Marysville early Saturday morning.

The “serious incident” happened just before 3 a.m. on southbound I-5 near 136th Street North, according to the Washington State Patrol.

“Today, we hold a special place in our hearts for the families and colleagues of our fallen this morning,” the Washington State Patrol said in a statement.

The Washington State Department of Transportation asks all drivers to use an alternative route. The closure is expected to last for several hours. Traffic is being diverted at Exit 206.
