WSDOT seeks public input on SR 165’s future after Fairfax Bridge closure

CARBONADO, Wash. — The public can now provide its input on the future of state Route 165 (SR 165) at the Carbon River.

The 103-year-old Fairfax Bridge, a main roadway to Mount Rainier National Park, was permanently closed April 22 after the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) found deterioration of steel supports. The bridge was initially closed April 14 as a safety precaution following an inspection.
