With Cuomo's resignation, WA's Jay Inslee is poised to be the longest-serving state governor in US

The state’s 22nd governor since Washington joined the Union in 1889, Inslee began his first term in 2013 after narrowly defeating former state Attorney General Rob McKenna in the 2012 gubernatorial election. He was elected to a third term last year, making him only the second governor in the state’s history to serve more than two consecutive terms in office.

A spokesperson for Inslee said he was traveling and wasn’t available for comment, but added this at the end of her email: “He has always said it is a tremendous honor being governor and it is the best job in the world. He loves this state and its people
