‘We’re scared’: Friends who witnessed teen’s stabbing speak out after suspect released

The suspect who killed 17-year-old Saef Kamil was released Wednesday after prosecutors found there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him.

COVINGTON, Wash. — The man suspected of stabbing a 17-year-old Skyline High School student to death has been released from custody, with prosecutors saying they lack sufficient evidence to file charges despite witness accounts and video of the confrontation.

Saef Kamil of Sammamish was killed March 1 at the Timberlane Clubhouse in Covington. The 20-year-old suspect, arrested at the scene, was released Wednesday evening — the day after Kamil’s burial — because prosecutors could not meet the 72-hour deadline to file charges under Washington court
