Alice, the crane that escaped from Cougar Mountain Zoo, was safely retrieved from a yard near Lake Sammamish on Friday.
ISSAQUAH, Wash. — A crane that escaped from the Cougar Mountain Zoo in Issaquah on Wednesday has been recovered.
The zoo announced that one of its juvenile East African crowned cranes, Alice, had made its way outside of the grounds on Wednesday and was spotted near Lake Sammamish on Thursday.
On Friday, a Lake Sammamish resident spotted Alice in their yard and contacted the zoo. Staff and volunteers were able to “gently and safely” retrieve Alice without incident just before midnight.
