MOAB, Utah — A weather balloon launched from Spokane collided with a United passenger flight while the plane was flying over Moab, Utah, in mid-October.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released a report Thursday detailing that the plane was traveling from Denver to Los Angeles around 7 a.m. on Oct. 16, and was cruising when the captain noticed an object on the horizon. Before he could alert his co-pilot, the balloon collided with the plane, causing one side of the plane’s windshield to shatter.
