In Washington, veterinarians are calling for urgent action to address what they say is a severe workforce shortage that is impacting urban and rural communities.

Haigh Veterinary Hospital in Shelton is a family business that stretches back more than four decades. Dr. Eddie Haigh spends his days there, and he serves as the president of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association.
