Five alerts have been issued since alerts went into effect in 2023.
OLYMPIA, Wash. — In 2023, Washington state began issuing public alerts seeking help in solving hit-and-run crashes.
Washington State Patrol spokesperson Chris Loftis said five alerts have been issued out of more than 700 unsolved crimes.
”When you look at the scope of what we’re looking at, it has not been as effective as we hoped it would be,” Loftis said.
A law enforcement agency needs to meet three standards to issue an alert.
