Washington state funding cuts threaten students’ Holocaust education experience

A $500,000 funding cut threatens the Holocaust Center for Humanity’s educational programs in Washington.

SEATTLE — A major cut to state education funding could mean fewer Washington students will learn about one of history’s darkest chapters, the Holocaust.

The Holocaust Center for Humanity in Seattle said a $500,000 reduction in state support could force them to scale back programs, especially the free field trips they offer to schools across the state. The center typically receives about $750,000 in annual support from the state, but now that number has been slashed and they don’t know how much they’ll get.
