The cuts come as the state grapples with a multi-billion-dollar budget deficit.
OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington state’s largest agency will eliminate over 700 positions as numerous departments enact budget cuts in the coming weeks.
The Department of Health and Human Services (DSHS) confirmed it is cutting 731 positions across the state. A spokesperson said 430 of those positions are vacant and simply being eliminated, while 300 employees will be laid off.
