Washington income tax for millionaires headed for ‘epic fight’ before House vote

Finance Committee Chair Rep. April Berg said she was confident the House will pass states’ first income tax.

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington state lawmakers were preparing to work through the night Monday and possibly into Tuesday as the state House of Representatives move toward a vote on a controversial income tax bill. 

Democrats, who control the majority in both the House and Senate, say they have the votes to advance the measure despite fierce Republican opposition.
