Washington AG Nick Brown says his office is asking courts to follow a preliminary injunction blocking the USDA from accessing SNAP recipients’ private data.
OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington Attorney General Nick Brown said Monday that his office has asked the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California to enforce an order preventing the USDA from accessing private information of SNAP recipients.
In July of last year, Brown and a coalition of attorneys general sued the U.S. Department of Agriculture, alleging that its demand for states to turn over personal and sensitive information about millions of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients violates federal law.
