Victim of ‘vicious’ attack in Seattle’s Pioneer Square speaks out

Michael Darigol, 42, was walking alone after a Mariners game when three people ruthlessly beat and robbed him, taking his shoes and sports cap.

SEATTLE — Michael Darigol was walking alone through Pioneer Square after attending a Mariners game when he was attacked in what one police officer described as “one of the most brutal unprovoked assaults” he had ever seen.

“I’m scared to go outside. Truly,” Darigol said.

Three weeks after the attack, Darigol returned to the site of the attack for the first time. He said he struggles to remember what happened.
