SEATTLE — Venezuelans across Washington state are watching rapidly unfolding developments in their home country with a mix of hope, disbelief and uncertainty, as U.S. actions targeting Venezuela’s leadership reverberate through a diaspora shaped by years of political turmoil.

The Venezuelan community in Washington is relatively small, but it is part of a much larger U.S. diaspora estimated at about 750,000 people nationwide. Many fled economic collapse, political repression and instability under President Nicolás Maduro.
