UPS to limit buyouts, offer $150,000 severance for drivers after Teamsters deal

WASHINGTON — UPS has limits on how many of its drivers the delivery service can buy out after an agreement with the Teamsters union this week. 

The settlement followed months of negotiation after UPS rolled out a buyout plan known as the Driver Choice Program in February. Teamsters leadership alleged that UPS went around the union in introducing that program. 

Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien celebrated the settlement on the labor union’s blog, saying that UPS will now be forced to recognize seniority
